New year day 2006, off with the roof!
On 1st January 2006 we embarked on one of the hardest stages of Waterdogs refit, to rip out the living room and rip off the wheelhouse and galley from the top deck. The reasons were that the wheelhouse was too high for low bridges, too wide to work the ropes when moving the boat. Also the existing wheelhouse was mostly rotten through not having the wood and hull treated before it was built onto the boat in the 1970's. We could not even go inland to the boat yard commissioned for the work until we had removed at least 4ft of the roof down to the window sills. We started cutting the roof off on New years day and by 15th we had a long low sleek wreck of a boat for our trip to Hurts boat yard in Knottingly.
